SINGLE REVIEW: Jess Simmons - Mountain

Mountain is the latest single from Jess Simmons, a singer songwriter from Suffolk. The song’s release was highly anticipated by her supporters, and it delivered on all fronts.

Mountain is about putting so much effort into someone who doesn’t give back in the same way, and you can almost hear Jess’ heart breaking in this song. Gorgeous close harmonies support the lead vocal throughout the track, which really brings it to life. Jess is inspired by artists such as Damien Rice and Fleetwood Mac, and you can hear this in so many aspects of her music.

Her writing across her portfolio is consistently honest and raw, which shines through so well in Mountain, all while maintaining a warm and full bodied production. The aching cello sweeps underneath the top line of the track, which is the icing on the cake of the whole track. It’s safe to say its a beautiful song that should be heard far and wide.

Favourite Lyric: “I wish I could stay, but I can’t afford to pay for the love that you stole from my heart”.

Mountain is available to stream and download now. You can follow Jess Simmons for updates and music on social media at @jesssimmonsmusic .
